Always Wander With Skyroam Wifi Hotspot

February 6, 2017

“Let’s wander where the wifi is weak,” said no one ever!

How about let’s wander where the wifi is booming. Yes, I like that much better. I’m sorry, I need to be connected when traveling; wifi is the lifeline. In the past, I always found ways to stay connected while traveling; I have a wallet filled with sim cards from just about every country I’ve travelled to. But, guess what, that adds up. Not only do you have to pay for a sim card, but you have to pay for the actual plan and if you run out of data, you have to top it up.

In 2016, I made a goal to start traveling smart. The first step was to begin to pay more attention to my finances. Paying for extra stuff like sim cards and data really began to add up so I began to research smarter ways to stay connected on the go. I immediately thought, what about a wifi device? When I began my search I was truly exhausted, there are so many portable wifi hotspot devices out there but I came across one in particular, Skyroam.  A sale will probably make me buy anything, so I decided to give the company a go.  Turned out, Skyroam is the plug! It is a very small, pocket-sized portable Wifi hotspot device that allows you to stay connected while on the go.  I absolutely love it, and guess what they are not paying me to review their product.

Stay connected when traveling with a Skyroam wifi hotspot!

I purchased Skyroam wifi hotspot specifically for my trip last year to Brazil. I had no recommendations on the device, I was basically taking a chance. If it didn’t work, I would’ve probably cried. I bought the device online for $100 ish, (and I got free day passes) and that was it.  I set up an online account for my device and I topped it up with as much money as I wanted to. Each day I activated the hotspot,  I had have 24 hr access to wifi.  Daily wifi is $8, I think, and you can connect up to 5 devices. So, if you’re going with a few friends, you can all pitch in to pay for the daily wifi and everyone is happy.

Was it reliable? To be honest. My wifi was spotty some days in Brazil, but it got the job done. I was able to upload snaps to Snapchat, pictures to Instagram and updates to Facebook. I assume the coverage wasn’t as fast as I needed it to be because it was the Olympics and thousands of people were utilising the network.

Needless to say, I have gone on to use my device in America and Africa and had absolutely zero problems with service. It’s truly ahhhmazing! The good thing about Skyroam is that you can use the device in 100 + countries, hassle free.

You may be asking, why again is she giving this device glowing reviews if she isn’t being paid?

I like sharing the good stuff, and this is GOOD! I don’t need to be paid for something to love it, ya know.

So yea, I bought the device and I love it. I know that everyone probably won’t need to buy a portable wifi hotspot device like Skyroam, but the company is so creative and innovative that they’ve made it easier for you to get your hands on the product without buying.  Skyroam recently introduced global wifi vending machines, so you can simple rent a device. Grab some wifi and go!  The first vending machines are now available at San Francisco International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Full Disclosure: I wrote this article without any sponsorship from Skyroam, however I have now teamed up with them to spread the word about this amazing travel accessory!

If you want to find out more information on the device or purchase it, head on over to Skyroam website to purchase. This is an affiliate link, if you purchase through the link, I may get a small commission, at no cost to you! This will help me to continue to churn out amazing blogs to help you on along your travel journey.

If you’re still not sold on the device, here are some options to staying connected while travelling.
